Now that's cool! Skilful orangutan captured on video wiping face with wet towel to beat the heat

If any more proof were needed that the orangutan is one of mankind’s closest relatives, here it is.
Just like us, the ape sometimes has trouble coping with the heat and this particular one has found an inventive way of cooling off.
With an uncannily human gesture it plunges what appears to be a flannel into a pool of water, methodically wrings it out and then mops its brow.

In fact, the orangutan at the Tama Zoo in Tokyo is so pleased with its idea that it is in no mood for sharing.
It refuses to hand the wet towel over to a smaller ape, snatching it away as the youngster tries to grab it.
In the end the smaller ape has to use its hands to splash the water over itself.
